The Ñ Fund
for Latinas in Journalism

The Ñ Fund for Latinas in Journalism exists for one reason: to make sure Latinas take up the space we’ve always deserved in the media. We’re here to amplify our presence, our power, and—most importantly—our voices.

How do we do it? We invest directly through small grants to nonprofits and schools that provide mentorships and internships to the next generation of storytellers. Programs that reach first-gen college students, young people from low-income backgrounds, and anyone hungry to tell the truth about the world around them. People whose voices deserve to be heard on larger platforms.

Latinos are the future. But in journalism, we’re often barely seen or heard. The Ñ Fund for Latinas in Journalism is here to flip that narrative. Learn more about our interns and partners.

Because here’s the reality check: Latinos make up 20% of the U.S. population, and by 2060, we’ll be one in four Americans. Yet in journalism, we remain significantly underrepresented: only about 11% of U.S. journalists are Latino. The numbers are even worse for Latinas, who account for less than 3% of the media workforce.

Three. Percent.

Not good enough. Not even close.

That’s where The Ñ Fund comes in.

Give the next generation of storytellers the support they need. Each dollar fuels the opportunity for an aspiring Latina journalist to break into the field, earn her first byline and step into leadership.

Representation in the media isn’t a social nicety. It’s a civic necessity. Journalism is stronger, more accurate, and more trusted when it reflects the communities it serves.

There needs to be more Latinas in journalism — punto. More Latinas shaping the narratives that don’t just include us, but center us.

The Ñ Fund is about building that pipeline. Opening doors. Making sure the next generation of Latina reporters, editors, and columnists rise, thrive, and transform journalism.

This isn’t just about representation.

It’s about power.

It’s about respect.

And it’s about time.
